Question

No MediaTypeFormatter for media type text/plain in Laserfiche AI Service

asked on January 20 Show version history

We have seen old posts on this error with QF Server and the Document Preview services (links below) but we did not see a resolution for either of those and now we are getting it with the newly released AI service for self hosted systems. When we get this error the document is never processed by Smart Fields. If we run it again then it works so it is not related to the document itself. I think it is still related to whatever caused it with older versions of QF Server and Document Preview.

Error message from event viewer:

No MediaTypeFormatter is available to read an object of type 'HybridJobErrorDetails' from content with media type 'text/plain'.

This was an infrastructure glitch on our side that the AI Service, unfortunately, does not retry. The infrastructure issue has been addressed. The AI Service is also being updated for the April release.

Oh does this mean this error should go away without any updates to the on-prem service?

Yes. With the current fix, you would have to re-trigger processing on the documents that failed because the on-prem service considered the error above an indication of failure. The update to the locally installed service will make it so the service retries the job on its own on certain transient errors rather than failing it immediately.

Awesome, thank you!

Something is not right because new documents being processed today throwing the same error are never applying any metadata to the document and the queue of jobs is empty. We have to re-apply the template manually still until it works.

Could you open a support case so we verify the customer account and the time frame when these occurred?
