Enhancement Request: Auto Close Error Notifications After X Number of Seconds in Preview Mode

asked on January 7

In Laserfiche Forms when I am using the Preview Mode, if I try to select an Action Button that then results in some kind of an error on the form, a message pops up at the top like this:

That error (and subsequent errors) stay visible until I close them. Can these be set to automatically close after X number of seconds like other notifications in Forms?

Unfortunately notifications like this are super tricky to support for accessibility reasons. Obviously as they are now they’re the same toasts as live forms so they share the same logic.

In order to shorten them we’d have to also support a configuration setting for forms which is a lot to do since we’d prefer to do it across the product suite.

My suggestion would be to make sure there are no errors on the form before submitting 😏

Your last comment made me laugh. Your reply made me try to remember where I have seen the notifications automatically disappear, so I went looking. Turns out I can't find any in Forms or the Web Client in v12. If I do, I'll be sure to update the post, but maybe this is just the new standard for accessibility like you said.

Success toasts vanish still. Which they technically shouldn’t either. Those we’re more inclined to just remove since the rest of the interface should make it obvious the action happened successfully

I think people get warm and fuzzies seeing some kind of success notification, including myself. I would recommend having something that shows it was successful.

We would make sure the UI shows some action happened successfully instead of relying on toasts for everything. I'd prefer the UI has a more permanent/contextual representation that the action occurred successfully or unsuccessfully.

That being said, its gonna be a while before we get there haha
