Laserfiche AI smart fields questions

asked on December 23, 2025

Hello all,

I have converted my LF licensing to the new model so we can get Smart Fields as a replacement for Smart Invoice Capture. Unfortunately, I was not expecting to lose QF. I have a handful of QF sessions that my org uses. Already with testing, I'm not getting the results I was hoping for. Here are my questions.
I'm assuming that SF is using the text generated in a document to figure out the data. So, for PDFs, if the scanned image does not have text, that would mean I need to generate pages and generate text on a document to get SF working properly, correct? Does that also mean I should be using settings like "Accuracy" for text generation? What about decolumnize text?
Since the AI documents say to test your prompts(which I'm doing a lot), I'm already burning through my smart field captures. Is there any way to designate a "test" so I can save my captures for production?
I also saw that SF will only work for the first 10 pages. So my QF session that would take a 100+ page scan and break it apart won't work anymore. Is my only option now to use Workflow to break these apart with some sort of pattern match and first page identification? Are there other options?

If you are on the Business Tier, I believe you should get 10 QF Complete licenses and QF Agent.

Why did you lose Quick Fields? It is a still a supported product, even with subscription. Sounds like you may not have got the licensing right if you still need it.

My guess is to keep the quote down. Switching from Rio to the new Bisness tier subscription was quite the increase. I'm sure I'll be able to use OCR and workflow to break apart some documents. We will see how it goes.
