Question

Hide Regular Expression error

asked on December 22, 2025

I've got a form that has a regular expression for a phone number.  Verifying that the phone number works just fine, but I've gotten some feedback about the error message that is thrown up.

Is there a way to change the message "Value does not match designated pattern: \(d\d\d) \d\d\d-\d\d\d\d" or to hide it?

I can put (###) ###-#### in the Text Below Field which I think users will understand just fine.  However, I know I'm going to have end users confused by the '\(\d\d\d) \d\d\d-\d\d\d\d'.

I would take a look at Custom Error Messages: Custom Error Message Rules

Thank-you!  I'm ashamed that I didn't see that there.

If you are using latest Laserfiche 12, have you thought about using Input Mask instead of regular expression?
