Task Assignment Flexibility in Laserfiche Cloud: User-Level Assignment With Team Override?

In Laserfiche Cloud, is there any way to assign a task to a specific user but still allow other members of the team to pull that task if the assigned user is busy or out on vacation?

As far as I can tell, Cloud doesn’t support team-level filtering, so the options seem to be:

  • Assign it to the team, which forces the primary person to manually claim it every time, or

  • Assign it to a specific user, which prevents the rest of the team from seeing or retrieving it.

Has anyone found a workable solution to this in LF Cloud?

We are actually actively working on a feature slated to be released january 2026.

We will be adding two features to task assignment

  1. Assignment Roles - A new role in teams used in a user task to filter to smaller subsets of individuals within a team 
  2. Task Participants - i.e., "Assign to same approver as Step X" or "Assign to anyone but the same approver from Step X"

So it doesn't directly cover a direct to user task assignment because direct to user task assignments are much more fragile when people leave an organization.

Thanks, Zachary. That direction makes sense and does sound like it could address the use case at a high level.

I’d be happy to hop on a call to review the approach and provide feedback. For planning purposes, is there an expected January 2026 release date, and is this planned as a general Cloud release?
