Version 12 Workflow Testing: Connection Profile Issue

asked on December 11 Show version history

Hi Folks, we have installed 12 in our DEMO environment, and I have been importing Forms and workflows to test. I see that after I import a version 11 workflow, the 12 Workflow Designer does not fully accept the Connection Profile. See the 3 pics below. Have you seen this before? Let me know if anyone can reproduce it.

I could publish a workflow successfully after swapping each problematic activity out with a fresh one from the toolbox but would NOT  like to do this to every workflow I want to test. Thanks in advance!

What is the full version of Workflow you are running?

Hey Blake! Hope you're doing well! Both the designer and WF service are 12.0.2510.3321.

I'm doing pretty well Chris. Just wish we had some snow.

I am running that version of Designer and WF Service, but haven't run into the problem and haven't been able to recreate it.

Did you import a version 11 workflow into the 12 environment? That's what I've been doing.

Oh, ya. And be careful what you wish for ;) Ha ha. This year is extra cold and snowy where I am at.

Did the import wizard prompt you to replace the connection profile?

Most of these workflows do not need nor have a connection profile. I breeze past that prompt here:

I re-imported one to test this and after selecting a profile in the above prompt it did NOT throw any errors on publishing. Bug or user error :)

In 12 must there now always be a connection profile? Just want to know so we can plan. Thanks!

Miruna, Running the wizard does resolve the issue when importing the wfs.

Is this something by design were they're required to run the wizard, or is this a bug and they should be able to import the WF, then create connection profiles as needed?

If you got prompted for a connection profile, you need one. Setting it to "none" effectively says "i'll deal with it later". The question is, how did you set it to "none", the options are supposed to be "same" or one of the existing profiles on the machine.

I can't quite tell the types of activities in your validation screenshot, but there's at least a Conditional Parallel and that requires a profile.

Sounds like it is behaving as expected. I can get back to testing this next week and will report back. Thanks for the feedback. Super helpful.

Is "do not include connection profiles in exported workflows" on? The setting is under Advanced Server Options on the General tab.

sorry, where is this? I looked in Option on v11 and 12 also WF admin console. Thanks for the follow up!

It's in the LF12 Workflow Administration Console under the Server Configuration node > Advanced Server Options > Properties > General > Security Options.

I just moved a WF from 11 to 12 and did not have an issue but I did update the connection profile in the wizard.
