Sam, can you--or somebody--shed some light on what is meant by the date format note? I have a project where it matters so was excited to test 2 digit years as well as dates written out in text. Neither of which work (though admittedly I have only restarted services and app pools but not my whole DEV server).

  • Additional Date formats supported for copy-paste

Hi Pieter,

Essentially this feature request: Enhancement I Would Love to See on the Web Client - Improved Pasting of Date Values With Different Formats - Laserfiche Answers

Our internal notes on the item "Date fields in Web Client should more flexibly handle pasted dates" simply lists:

  • Fall back to yyyy/MM/dd

  • Support more separators like -. in paste

Thanks, Sam. Hopefully they can get 2-digit year support soon. I wouldn't expect written text to work, but figured since Quick Fields can handle it it was worth a shot.

One more followup. You guys (not you specifically) need to make it easier to see what's new/updated for the different modules. Looking for info on Import Agent, the dedicated page on the Support Site has the most recent News item as an update for 10.3 and the latest KB as a version 11 update. I had to come to this article to track down your What's New link to find info about Import Agent 12.

Pieter, we're moving away from product release KBs and centralizing all release notes in the official documentation that's been linked here. Having dozens of separate release note pages for things on the support site was frankly terrible for discoverability. Start with the product docs going forward.

Hi Laserfiche team. I ran into something that might be a bug or might just be configuration weirdness within my environment.

The new installer doesn't give you the ability to set app pool identities, and it defaults the Web Access app pool to NetworkService. Previously it was always ApplicationPoolIdentity, but even going from an earlier build of 12 to the latest, it changes this to NetworkService.

The issue is that PDF files don't open for me in Web Client when it is using this service. I can upload them just fine but when trying to open them the viewer just hangs on a blank page. It even throws a security error in the Event Viewer. Setting this to a service account or just back to ApplicationPoolIdentity corrects the issue so PDF files open.

Thanks Pieter; I just encountered this issue as well!

Good to know it wasn't just me thinking I was going mad laugh

Thanks for the report, we're investigating.

Edit: I verified the app pool identity does switch to Network Service on one of my test servers. I didn't encounter the PDF viewing error on my test server but if the issue is permissions related, that could vary by environment.

Update: We've verified this is a bug that was unintentionally introduced when we switched the Repository Web Client from its old SetupLf.exe installer to the modern MSI one in 2025 H1. It's filed as bug 623029 "Should use ApplicationPoolIdentity as default Web Client application pool instead of Network Service" and currently targeted for 2026 H1.

In the meantime, after install/upgrade, please:

  • Switch the WebAccessAppPool identity back to "ApplicationPoolIdentity" (IIS Manager > WebAccessAppPool > Advanced settings > Identity > Select "ApplicationPoolIdentity" from dropdown)
  • Grant the app pool identity user "IIS AppPool\WebAccessAppPool" the "Full Control" permission at the "C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Web Access\Web Files" directory. Without that permission, actions like updating Web Client configuration may fail.

Is there documentation on how to customize the LFDS login page? I've searched and couldn't find it. I see this text but cannot find the utility/option to get to it.

Through Laserfiche Directory Server, organizations can configure custom login pages that reflect their branding and user experience standards. This not only reinforces trust and familiarity for internal and external users, but also reduces confusion and support requests by aligning the login interface with organizational expectations and terminology

Would this be done by modifying files in the "C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Directory Server\Web\LFDS\Views" folder?

In your web browser, navigate to the LFDSSTS configuration page (https://server.domain.com/LFDSSTS/configuration) and you'll see a link to "Customize Sign-in Page"
