LF Application Server Migration & Things to look out for

posted on October 2

Hi there,

We are planning a Laserfiche server migration. The application suite is currently LF12 but we would like to move them to newer hardware.

There are 3 main servers where the applications are to be migrated:

1. Internal: LFDS, Laserfiche Server, Workflow, Forms

2. Web: Forms, Web Client, Mobile

3. Database (SQL)

One of the main concerns is that there are currently a number of in progress workflows. What is the best practice to ensure that the transition does not cause in progress workflows to terminate on migration as the data source / LF server will be changed?

Any help or tips on migration processes will be much appreciated.

Kind regards,
Ray

Take a look at our documentation on moving the Workflow Server. If the new server has a new name, you'll also want to add redirects for the Laserfiche Server and repository so running workflows will continue.

If you haven't already, this might be a good time to add DNS aliases for these servers so future hardware upgrades are simpler.

Moving repositories follows a similar pattern: https://doc.laserfiche.com/laserfiche.documentation/12/userguide/en-us/content/admin-repository-move.htm
