Laserfiche Cloud Backups - Insider Attacks

asked on September 9

Hi All,

I can see this has been raised on various other posts, but wanted to put forward a scenario for consideration from a Laserfiche perspective.

Whilst it's clear from the documentation that Laserfiche will only backup the system and restore in the event of a server side failure, they will not provide point in time or incremental backups at a customer level.

E.g. if the server completely crashes LF will restore it in it's entirety, and this server may host multiple customers. What LF will not do is let's say the customer accidentally deletes half the system, LF will not restore the data in this instance.

I know there is the recycle bin etc. which can help mitigate this risk but.........what is the procedure for an insider attack.

Let's say you have a disgruntled employee which is a Laserfiche admin, and he/she shift deletes half or all of the system in a malicious manner. What is the procedure in this instance from a Laserfiche perspective? Can exceptions be made?

More broadly, has anyone else managed to successfully integrate Laserfiche Cloud with any other backup solution providers to provide customers with a point in time restore option?

Looking forward to any ideas/suggestions anyone has around this.

Cheers!

Chris

This is definitely a need. It does not help a client to have a Cloud system, if they also need to download their data on a regular basis in order to have a good working backup.

Following - other potential scenerios could be that someone mistakenly makes a lot of changes to file names or folder structures or a business process makes major unexpected changes to the respository.

Thank you all for the feedback on this topic!  I'd love to discuss your needs further regarding cloud backups if you are interested.  Feel free to reach out to me at andrew.spear at laserfiche.com if you'd like to set up some time to discuss further.

There needs to be a way to get exported data out reliably without running up the API access. Something like a download to physical media per year and shipped or a way to get a full copy via download has been requested by a few clients who are hesitant with cloud.
