Question

Variables not outputting to second form without a User Task

asked on September 4

Hello,

I am running into an into an issue with forms that do not include a User Task in their process diagram. My forms that require approval via a User task work perfectly. However, on forms that are simple submissions and use an email task to send a PDF, the selected variables are not being output.

If I use the same form from start to finish, it doesn't seem to be an issue.

This works: Start[FormA] - Email Task[FormA] - End

However, in the case that I need the information emailed in a smaller more printer friendly PDF, I have to put a User Task before the email task.

This Works: Start[FormA] - User Task[FormB] - Email Task[FormB] - End

This does not work: Start[FormA] - Email Task[FormB] - End

I have also created a workflow to Set Business Process Variables before the email task. The variables are retrieved and are sent to SQL, but they are not picked up by FormB.

Has anyone else run into this?

Thank You,

Hi Kevin, which specific version of Forms do you use? I tested on the latest Forms 12, and it works well in the scenario you described.

Hi Xu, Laserfiche Forms Professional Version 12.0.2503.10378. I did a little more digging and it seems to only effect drop-down, checkbox, and radio fields in sections. If they are not in sections, it works fine. Single line, and Multiline work fine even in sections.

Thanks for the detailed information. Unfortunately, I'm still unable to reproduce the issue. I suggest opening a support ticket and providing your business process, so we can investigate further.

I had a similar problem when saving a forms document to the repository.  I find that with Address, Checkbox, Drop-Down and Radio Button the variables can get a bit tricky. To get the value that was entered in the checkbox to save with the form, I had to enter the value of the checkbox choices next to their corresponding Label (see screenshot below).  You have to play around with the variables to make sure they are pulling the correct information.

Thanks @████████. I tried adding values to each of the fields and still had the same issue. I have a ticket open with our var. I will let you know what the resolution was.
