Question

cannot import Wfi tutorial Template on Cloud

asked on September 4

Rename and Move.wfi template downloaded from Lf site.

I have been able to drop the template lbi file into the repository root. Launching wrok flow and clicking import then either dragging and droping or browsing to the file generates an error. All of the lfi files I have tried generate the same error. My cloud my security looks good, I am the admin.

I see that it looks like this has been unsupported for close to 5 years with a suggestion it's on the radar. I am just wanting to run the tutorial, what other options are out there.

I am unsure where you see this is unsupported.  I downloaded the Workflow Template from the support site here, and using the instructions here was able to import successfully with no errors.

Perhaps you were attempting to use the Workflow Templates designed for on-prem or self-hosted Laserfiche systems rather than Laserfiche Cloud?  The .wfi files do have different structures and do present the error shown in your screenshot.

Cloud Workflow Templates: Download here

On-premises Workflow Templates: Download here

Thank you so much, the links you provided to the Cloud versions worked. I over reacted on my 5 year remark. I had found some posts 5 years back and another not to far back that said it was unsupported. I could not find any cloud related links. So thank you very much.

New to the LaserFiche world trying learn a lot, including not over reacting I guess.

Hi Shawn, thanks for your reply earlier, I was excited to see that indeed the workflows installed. What seems to be missing however is the documentation files.

There is only the briefcase and the wfi file.

The onprem download has documentation however it is for a different set of templates and is clearly for a non cloud installation. Where can I find the documentation matched to the cloud templates.

I have tried running the workflow but it generates an error looking at the monitor report perhaps indicates it needs an enrty ID, selecting a folder causes an additinal error :

Error

[X-RequestId: b34f01590e9c4571af689c79ddcbc14a]

r-000139b5c3c0

I am new at this and struggling to get through this.

I agree it would be helpful if the instructions for Cloud could be included in the download to match the experience of the Self-Hosted download.  There are some cloud specific instructions available online here.  You likely need to update a few items after importing such as the starting rules and the repository connection specifics.  Hopefully that gets you started.

Thank you for sticking with me on this. The document you linked is helpful.

I deleted all my previous imports of briefcase and templates so I could start with a clean slate. I proceeded to follow with care the instructions as provided. It all goes well until you get to step 6. Which does not evolve as presented the information presented looks right but there are no dropdowns, selects, apply or Next just the final finish which might be a next but I do not remember.

6. In the Update Starting Events Repositories step, select all the starting events and use the drop-down at the bottom of the page to select your repository. Click Apply and then Next.

7. In the Update Timer Starting Events step, select the checkbox on the right to enable the WT - Scheduled Approval event. Click Next.

8. In the Update Starting Events Repositories step, select your repository. Click Next.

9. The Workflows to Import step lists each workflow being imported and the publishing options for each. Select the checkboxes on the right to publish the workflows, then click Next.

10. Confirm the information in the Import Summary, and then click Finish to complete the import.

At step 11. selecting starting events shows WT-"rule name" with an enabled state of "stop symbol, red circle with line thru" and the name and conditions listed below.

So far so good.

The using templates section looks excellent is definitely what I am looking for. I will let you know how I make out.

Thanks for your assistance.

Peter

Importing workflows in Laserfiche Cloud still only accepts .WFI files exported from Laserfiche Cloud (and that is not going to change). However, you can import workflows from a self-hosted installation of Laserfiche through the newly released Deployment Manager

Thank you, understood. I had found and tried to use the non-cloud templates. Once I was pointed in the right direction by Shawn Olthoff I got onto a better track.

I have found however that a number of Aspire and support documents are lagging behind the most current version of Cloud and not all the steps or details are accurate subsequently causing frustration on my learning journey. I had a better day yesterday with workflow after going through all the possible security and access rights only to discover that I had to add ProcessAutomationUser to the WF-Templates folder added to the repository by the import process. Thanks to this question https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/211161 from Bill Peyton
