Question

"breach ..." at the end of the WebClient Page Source

asked on July 23

If you log into the WebClient (both 11 & 12) and choose to view the page source, on the very last line of the page is a commented out section of code that says "breach" and then is followed by variable length of characters.  Additionally, every time you refresh the page, the characters change.

The word "breach" in a web file is a bit ominous, not to mention the fact that commented out code changes every time it loads.  Does anyone know what this is for?

This is a mitigation against BREACH attacks. Nothing to be alarmed about, but we could have picked a more reassuring string to put there.

I figured it was something along those lines.  Thanks for the quick response.
