Question

TLS 1.3 and Laserfiche 12

asked on July 11

Our security team is starting to push the transition of using TLS 1.3. I have not tested 1.3 and I am not expecting to run into any issues with Laserfiche 12, but I thought I would throw the question out here to see someone is already using TLS 1.3 with Laserfiche 11 or 12 and have you run into any issues?

We are currently assessing the compatibility of Laserfiche 12. While Laserfiche .Net Framework applications will generally follow .Net's configuration for TLS, there are some known issues with other components we use.

The library that Forms and Workflow use to connect to their respective databases does not support TLS 1.3 and Microsoft does not have plans to update it. We are planning on replacing it for the Spring 2026 release. We have no plans to replace it in older versions of Laserfiche.

While some fixes may be ready by the Fall 2025 release, full compatibility is expected in the Laserfiche 12 release early next year.

Outside of Laserfiche, the main thing to be aware of is that only SQL 2022 supports TLS 1.3. And at this time, Microsoft cautions against turning off TLS 1.2 on SQL Server. For operating system, it's Windows 11 and Windows Server 2022/2025.
