New Laserfiche 12 Look

asked on July 9

While we are getting positive feedback from casual users about the new look of Laserfiche 12 (especially in the WebClient), we are receiving mixed feedback from power users regarding the softer look & feel for the Windows Client, Windows Laserfiche Admin Console, Workflow Designer, & Workflow Admin Console.  The biggest complaint is not that the look changed, but that the high-contrast used in previous versions made it quicker/easier to utilize the applications.  This is especially true in Workflow Designer where it is much more difficult to tell the difference between each of the activities, especially in large Workflows.  It would be helpful if they could choose one of the following in the new 12 applications:

  • Use the 11 look for the application
  • A new high-contrast theme (similar to the old 11 look)

I know with new looks it often takes time to adapt and if we are the only ones who are experiencing this then please ignore. But for people who constantly are working in these applications (especially with aging eyesight), the higher contrast design in 11 was much more efficient than the new soft contrast in 12. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Absolutely agree, I am mourning the loss of higher contrast/definition Workflow Designer activity icons. In a program that is already rather intimidating to many users, making everything look more similar (and seemingly smaller) is quite confusing at a glance or when needing to navigate quickly. Or even newer or less frequent users learning the differences between activities.

Same with the desktop icons switch to all blue and white. Orange stood out so well!

Also agree on the desktop icons - you have to look hard and think about them, where before they were very distinct from each other.

I too miss the distinctive orange for the desktop icons.

Thank you, Beau. I have created an item for Workflow Designer high contrast mode enhancement to our feature backlog.

To triple up on this, the newer Workflow Designer icons have been described by a number of clients as "same-y."

Having the option to revert to v11 icons would be much appreciated!

I personally appreciate the new icons in Workflow 12. The concept behind the design makes a lot of sense. It took a little while to get use to the new icons, but for me the main issue is how much smaller they are compared to previous versions.

We're looking to address some of the issues with Workflow icons mentioned in this thread. So I'd like to give you a preview of what we're doing to make the Workflow more visible in high contrast black and larger in general.

So better A or B? Or about the same?

Definitely like the stronger use of colors in A, especially against the black background.  Thanks for always listening & working towards the best end-user experience.

I like A more. My mind doesn't have to think as hard to determine what it is.

A as well

On a black background, I prefer B, because the little symbols in the circle have more contrast. Can we see these on a white background?

I will manually update the icons, though I am certain they will be overwritten with each upgrade.
