V12 Thumbnail Panes are blank & flaky when un-docked

Working with the V12 Repo Client, we have found that the thumbnail pane shows up blank if it is un-docked.  It looks like this:

 

If you resize it or dock it, it populates correctly. However, if it remains undocked, it stays blank if you close the document and open another.  User reactions to this range from confusion to panic.  If you have them dock the pane, then it acts normally every time. If you can get it to dock, which is a different issue. This was true on a straight Windows machine and also on an Azure Virtual Machine.

Additional information on the undocked pane bug:

 

  1. Image pane is also affected
  2. Turning the pane off and on can bring the image up
  3. Sticky notes made visible by toggling the undocked pane do not appear on mouseover

 

Not sure if it’s related or just causing complications, but pane layouts aren’t sticking like they should. With only one entry open, arrange the panes, lock the display, close the entry. Re-open the same entry and the panes are still there. Move to another entry (especially with a different Status field value for some reason?) and panes will be missing and undocked. This seems to affect some users and not others.

 

Per the above, we use the Status field to move documents from one process to another.
