LF Scanning - Web Client

asked on May 12 Show version history

Good afternoon!

We are having problems with a shared workstation at our police department. It seems that each user is being asked to download and reinstall the Desktop Scanning each time they attempt to scan (web client). We have been troubleshooting and we don't know why this keeps happening!! I'm curious if this is because it's a shared station??

It seems that we started having the problem right after the Chrome extension completely went away. We are running Windows 11 Pro, we have tried Chrome and Edge and are having the same issue.

Can someone help?

Below is our setup and the screenshots that we get each time.

Hi Veronica,

Could you check if WebTools Agent is installed and running on the shared workstation:

Go to Options\Advanced in the web client on that computer, does Laserfiche Webtools Agent show as running?

It does show that it's running...please see below.

In your WebScanBuildNum.txt, the expected scanning version is 11.0.2306.201, but installed scanning is 11.0.2102.141.  So that WebClient prompts a upgrade dialog for Scanning. If you have tried to install the downloaded LfWebScan110.exe, then there could be an installation failure.

Could you try uninstall Scanning and Laserfiche Webtools Agent 11 first, then reinstall the LfWebScan110.exe?

I am really hoping to install scanning and Webtools Agent only on our users laptops. When I look at the failed install, it shows client suite.

LfWebScan110.exe will only install Scanning and its related components (WebTools Agent and OCR). The name is due to it reuses the client suite installer.

Thank you. Do you have any ideas on how to fix it?

For the error in your latest screenshot, please check the folder mentioned "C:\Users\chwagner\AppData\Local\Temp\LfWebScan110", try to delete the whole folder and re-run LfWebScan110.exe

Alternatively, you can use archiving tool (like 7zip) to extract LfWebScan110.exe to another foler and run ClientWeb\SetupLf.exe manually.

Is there any way to provide a full list of install files so we can ensure our firewalls aren't blocking something? I can get scan to work but the second the user restarts the computer, then the lfwebscan110 isn't recognized. I have to double click and "replace all", then reload scan and it works great again!

Scanning should be installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\Laserfiche\Client\Scanning after a successful install.

LfWebScan110.exe is not used any more after you installed Scanning. The temp folder in your screenshot is only used to extract installation files before installation.
