Question

What are the DCC licensing restrictions?

asked on May 10

For the Distributed Computing Cluster, how does the licensing work for Avante and Rio? How many schedulers can you have? How many workers can you have? How many workers pre scheduler can you have?

Hey Blake,

From my own experience, Avante you get 1 scheduler, and Rio you get 2 Schedulers (but you can request more).

You're right though, it's not that clear......

Hope this helps!

Laserfiche Rio includes 10 DCC (Scheduler) licenses. Not sure offhand about Avante. I believe all self-hosted Subscription licenses (except possibly Starter tier) also get 10 like Rio.

DCC Worker instances do not (to my recollection) require a license. They "inherit" their licensing status from connecting to a licensed DCC Scheduler instance, conceptually similar to how Workflow inherits its licensing status from connecting to a licensed Repository Server instance.

So could I have 5 worker instances connected to an individual scheduler?

Yes, the workers do not require a license for the install.
