Question

Office 365 (EXCEL) ODBC Drivers

asked one day ago

We are using Quick Fields for lookups via ODBC on a PC running Office 2016. However, after migrating to Office 365, Quick Fields now throws an ODBC error when accessing an Excel file stored on the PC.

After a quick investigation, it appears that Office 365 does not natively support ODBC, meaning we may need to either purchase a third-party ODBC driver (I’ll check the trial version) or consider reverting to a previous version. At this point, it’s still unclear whether Office 2024 has the same ODBC compatibility issue.

Has anyone successfully used Quick Fields lookup with Office 365 Excel—whether stored locally on a PC or on OneDrive? Any insights would be appreciated.

The error:

[0870-LPD1][Message=ERROR [IM014] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch between the Driver and Application]

That error seems to say that you are trying to use a x64 driver from a x86 application (Quick Fields is a x86 app).

As far as I know, no version of Office installs ODBC drivers. You need to install them separately as

Microsoft Access Database Engine 2016. Just make sure to pick the x86 version of it.
