Dragging to Create a Shortcut in Web Client

asked on May 2

Hello!

I was checking different key + drag combinations yesterday to see if there was a way to change the "move" drag and drop operation in the Web Client to "copy" (and if there were any other tricky things I could do that I didn't know about!).

After trying some different combinations, I was able to determine that holding Ctrl while dragging a file to a different location copies the file instead of moving it (which I haven't seen mentioned in the user guide, so I was pleasantly surprised).

Does anyone know if there's a similar shortcut (pun intended) that will make creating shortcuts quicker? (ex like in Windows, how holding Alt will let you create a link instead of moving something you've dragged over a different location?).

I've tried Alt, Ctrl + Alt, Shift etc with no success, and would love another handy trick to share with my users!

ANSWER: Ctrl + Shift + drag will create a shortcut - but this only works in Firefox, not in Chrome or Edge (not sure why). (credit to Brianna for discovering this, I'm so excited to share this with our staff!)
