Question

Audit Trail and Folder Exports

asked on May 1

We have a project where we are using Weblink as an Invoice Portal for a distributor's customers. Invoices are posted to the portal, and then we want to monitor whether the invoices have been downloaded.  There are no issues with tracking when a user downloads an individual document. When they download the parent folder (this is the most common action) we do not:

--Have any record that the children in that folder have been downloaded, and

--The folder itself is not tracked as having been downloaded.

We ran a test, with the time of searches of 5/1/2025, 6:05 PM, using Laserfiche Audit Trail 11.0.2306.3549. Here are the test candidates. The document below is in the folder with ID 85908.

Looking at Audit Trail before the test – Search is for one day’s activity, all Export and View Events.

Nothing for the document 85891:

There are events for 85908, the folder:

The Weblink Search:

Next download the Folder, ID 85908:

The event does not show up. (after a 3 minute wait for indexing). We get the same three event from the morning:

Next, open the folder:

The new events show up – but not the Export.

Download the document:

And:

Part II

Downloads shows the results:

Checking Doc ID 85891, the PDF, everything is normal.

However, the Folder Download is never tracked, and the folders children are not tracked.  In this application the users tend to download the folders, so we lose the ability to track this.  Bug? Or "expected behavior"?
