Question

Double spaces replaced with single space in Lookup Table data

asked on March 28

I had a customer report that double spaces were getting replaced by single spaces in the Cloud Lookup tables which caused data mismatches in their business process automations.

When we upload the CSV file, immediately after the double spaces are missing.

Why is this happening?

It's based on the lookup table's settings. By default, we collapse multiple spaces to a single one because most of the time they're accidental and people get confused as to why their values don't work.

You can check "preserve whitespace" when the table is created to indicate that you don't want it to do that. There is currently no way to change it on existing tables.

Oh we missed this. If I delete and re-create the table with the same name do all the rules disconnect and you somehow re-connect them? I don't want to mess with the rules because there are lots of references to those rules.

You don't have to delete it, just click the update table button and it will give you the same options
