Modern Designer Bug - Collections Force Field Width Resize With 6 Fields

I know I've seen this on Answers before, but I can't for the life of me find the post about it again.

I'm on Version 11.0.2311.50556, using the Modern Designer.  There is an issue/bug where a row of fields within a collection forcibly resizes every time you go to the Layout page, but only if the row includes 6 fields in it.  You can size the fields, save changes, and it'll look like it works, but the next time you open the Layout page, it's reverted back to auto-sizing them all at 1/6th of the width.

Example - the fields are resized - here they are in the Layout page:

And it shows on the preview of the form:

But if I leave the Layout page to do anything else, and then come back to the Layout page, everything is auto-sized again.

I have only seen this happen with 6 fields, but it is pretty consistent.

Does anyone know whether or not this issue is resolved in version 12 and/or know any workarounds to resolve the issue on version 11 while still maintaining the 6 fields?

I can reproduce the issue on latest version with collection field. Bug filed #580819. 

The issue does not exist on table field though. Would you consider using table field instead?

Unfortunately a table won't work because each record in the collection has four rows of fields (a little more than a dozen fields - that's a lot for a table).  I ended up rearranging so that the row that had six fields before now has five fields, it's not what I wanted, but it'll have to do.
