Question

Reduce blank space in Workflow Rule Manager pane

asked on March 5

I'm running version 11.0.2306.898 of Laserfiche Workflow Designer. In the Rule Manager pane, most of the space is taken up by the grey, blank area with the red arrow in the attached image. This makes it difficult to adjust the rules in the event area shown with the blue arrow. I don't see anyway in the View menu to adjust this. I've tried mousing over the edges, resetting the Design Mode Layout, reinstalling Designer, maximizing the window and right clicking in the window. I believe it's based on Microsoft Management Console, which has strict constraints on the sizes, but this is very annoying to work with. Any ideas?

The height of that pane is adjustable, but it is not immediately clear because of where the "grab" point is actually located.

Move your cursor just a little bit below the text at the top of that lower pane (Add Starting Rule, Edit, etc.) and you'll get a resize cursor.

From there you can click to drag it up or down to change the size.

I think the Add, Edit, Delete, and Disable options are actually part of the top pane, but without a visible line it makes it look like part of the lower pane so the actual top border of the lower pane isn't quite where you might expect.

Thank you very much! That was driving me crazy.

Was this on Windows Server rather the Windows 10 or 11? Maybe over the remote desktop?

We've seen some cases where the mouse cursor does not change to indicate there's a pane split there when using remote desktop connections on Windows Server OSs.

Miruna, I think the issue isn't the mouse cursor--which can be a bit finicky--but the fact that there is no visual clue that resizing is even possible. You just have to know to put the cursor in this blank area between the parts to get it to change.
