Most all the common scanners do a good job (Kodak, Fujitsu, Canon, Epson, etc.)  I'd actually check to see which companies seem keeping their drivers up to date, as new operating systems come out.  We have seen many perfectly good scanners made obsolete when the manufacturers did not update their drivers.
