Is there any cost savings to using Quickfields Server with QF Scanning?

posted on February 13 Show version history

Based on the documentation it seems that a Quickfields Scanning installation uses up your key activations from Quickfields Full as well as any added features like Zone OCR and Classification.

Is there any cost savings to installing Scanning vs Full?

It seems that Scanning is more expensive as it requires a Server and SQL backend where Quickfields Full requires no server, can do everything scanning can do, and uses the same keys.

I think the concept for having the two clients is to have users who need to create Quick Fields sessions use the full QF client and users who only need to scan use the scan client.

The full client includes all the scanning capabilities without any need for a server though.

Some of our users expressed a need for a simplified, more locked down Quick Fields interface and a centralized session location. Quick Fields Server and its client, Quick Fields Scanning serve that need. (Classic) Quick Fields becomes more of a session designer application in this setup.

Ok, I guess we are going down the wrong road here. We were looking to lower the cost per scanner station.
