Question

Blue Beam PDF application and Laserfiche document viewer

asked on February 5 Show version history

Greetings!

I have a customer who prefers to use Blue Beam for PDF generation and viewing rather than Adobe. When they have adobe reader installed, the customer is able to view the document, but when adobe reader is not installed, the user gets "the electronic file windows just states that it's unable to display the electronic file type for this document".

If we change the settings to view it with the default application (which is blue beam) it opens fine, but the customer wants it to open in the LF viewer with the metadata without having to have adobe reader installed.

Are there known issues with blue beam when used in this manner?

I'm assuming you're referring to the embedded PDF display in the Windows Client? If yes, then this is expected behavior. We are not able to embed random applications, so the display defaults to telling the user to open it if Adobe Reader is not set as the default app to open PDFs.
