Question

Remove pages (tiff) from a pdf

asked on January 27

I have docs in the repository that are pdfs with generated pages. I know I can delete the electronic file leaving the tiff, but can I do the opposite? Remove the pages and keep the electronic file?

I think there's an option to do this in self hosted but not cloud.

Unfortunately it is not exposed as a simple activity without going to SDK. You can do it as a three step process though, make a document, move pages to said document, then delete the document.

Yep thanks. I was figuring that. I think this can be done with the API as well? I will check it out.

Rereading you post, thats kind of slick I never thought of that!

-Find your doc you want to remove pages from
-Create a holding doc
-Copy the pages out of the doc (leaving the original doc) to the holding doc
-Delete the holding doc (that has the pages)

And you're left with the original doc sans pages, just the pdf.

One of the tricks is you need to be sure you have the original pdf and not have deleted it on import (options > Keep original PDF files when generating pages during import). Typically I leave this unchecked.
