Document displaying strangely in Weblink

asked on January 16 Show version history

Running Weblink 11.0.2411.10 and a few users have reported issues with documents displaying strangely. See attached image for an example.

In this instance, I'm able to view the document just fine, but it displays broken into pieces on the user's screen. It's almost as if the document viewer is trying to display it as thumbnails.

I had the user clear her browser cache and try reloading but that didn't fix the issue.

Any thoughts on what's causing this and how to fix it?

For users experiencing this issue in self-hosted WebLink 11, a hotfix is available at https://support.laserfiche.com/kb/1014562/viewing-documents-in-public-portal-weblink-may-show-a-white-grid-across-every-page

Will answer my own question in case anyone has this problem in the future.

I contacted support and it appears that there is a bug in Weblink where any zoom under 100% in the browser window will cause this to happen. Setting the zoom back to 100% fixes it.

Interesting. I have seen this in Cloud on just one pc in the environment. It wasn't a highly used pc so we were able to work around.

Thanks for posting this!

Quick clarifying question, by zoom do you mean the browser zoom in the menu/settings, or the document browser zoom (in your example set to 33%)

Thanks!

From my experience it's a mix of both.

We implemented the hotfix on 9 different WebLink servers and it worked as expected.

@████████ did Laserfiche say they were working on a fix for this or know when one might be available? We are seeing the same issue.

No, the support person I worked with didn't mention it. I know we had experienced this same issue in a previous version of Weblink so it seems doubtful it's on their roadmap to fix. I hope it is.

Laserfiche are you able to provide a timeframe for when a fix for this issue will be available? Our end users will become frustrated quickly with having to zoom to 100% on every document and I'm sure those that are using this for public viewing of documents would have a bigger problem since they can't contact everyone to let them know.

We don't currently have a timeline for this fix. Reference ID # 524069.

@████████ I asked my VAR to download the hotfix and it still did not work.

Any updates on this?

Hi Lashunda,

We're working with your Laserfiche Solution Provider via a support case they opened to confirm that they have applied the hotfix properly.

Okay thanks. I supplied some info regarding my OS and browser. Hope it helps

We worked with them and they should have the hotfix properly applied now. Please clear your browser cache so that it retrieves the updated JS file and let us know if there's still an issue.

Thanks for checking back in. It actually still didn't work. We have two weblinks and both still show the grid:

He's going to hop on a Teams with me shortly. Maybe it's something I'm not doing correctly. Not sure

SUCCESS!!! I worked with the VAR to resolve the issue. The hang up was I had to delete all of the browsing data in the viewer and not just the cache and cookies. So be advised, you will probably need to backup your passwords

Thanks for all the help

@████████ Hi Alex, I'm hoping you can help with another weblink viewer display question. We are a Public Works dept that has uploaded construction drawings for public viewing. They are very technically and detailed and I've noticed they have a hard time loading in the weblink viewer.

The weblink viewer displays a broken image icon and requires the user "to play around" with it for a quite bit before it displays properly. I was hoping the hotfix would correct this issue as well, but it did not.

I am pleased to move this question to it's own thread, but do you know if there are any options in weblink editor that could possibly resolve the issue or any other suggestions you have?
