Capability for self-hosted users to access cloud-based services

asked on January 13

We have a self-hosted Laserfiche installation, and I don't expect that to change in the foreseeable future. Obviously, vast development efforts have gone into the cloud product for several years.

It's my understanding that some cloud-based features are in fact available to self-hosted customers. Is there a document that outlines cloud-based services available to self-hosted users, how much they cost, and how to access them?

I believe the only cloud-based feature that is available for self-hosted is Direct Share.

Config instructions for Direct Share are at the bottom of this Web Client Configuration > Services page: doc.laserfiche.com/laserfiche.documentation/11/administration/en-us/Default.htm#../Subsystems/WAConfiguration/Content/general-services.htm

Instructions are the same for LF12. You need the Direct Share API key first and can reach out to your Solution Provider for pricing.

My understanding from my VAR is that you'd have to set up a Cloud subscription and link it to your on-prem somehow, so that your on-prem can use the Cloud subscription just for the actions that require Cloud connectivity. I suggest checking with your VAR.

This is what our customers do. If they need a cloud service they purchase a separate cloud system and run the service through there. Now that on-prem includes api endpoints you can easily and securely share most data between the systems.

Usually this is done to access invoice capture.

Craig is correct that Direct Share is currently the only integration possible. There are discussions about making more Cloud functionality available to self-hosted, but it's in the "how would we do it?" and "are customers interested?" phase. So if you had something specific in mind, we would love to know what it is.
