Set/Remove Holds on Records via Workflow

asked two days ago

I am curious if there is a way to build a workflow that will place bulk holds on records saved to the repository based on information placed into another system. For example, we have employees entering a date of death field into another system we use. We can have an API set up for that system and LF to communicate and both systems utilize the same identification number for individual records. Based on the date of death value being placed in the other system, is there a way for a workflow to pick up that value and place the relating records on hold?

Additionally, is there a way for a workflow to remove holds placed on records? If we are able to be successful with having a workflow place a hold on records, we will be building a report that will list all records placed on hold for the month, where we will also have a forms process for approval on if those records need to continue to be on hold or if they can continue with their normal retention. If they do not need to continue to be on hold, we would like a workflow to automatically remove the holds.

Thank you!

Not sure how accurate this is since I haven't tried it myself, but this seems like the way to allow your application to initiate a workflow: REST API - Workflow Web Service - Laserfiche Answers. Alternatively, you could certainly use a workflow to query your application's API using the "HTTP Web Request" activity.

The "Set Records Management Properties" activity has a "Remove Hold / Remove All Holds" action in workflow.
