Question

Why does a Search Repository activity create a message showing the result count, but a Database Query does not?

asked on December 13, 2024

I was testing a workflow today that has a Custom Query activity and a Search Repository activity. For some reason it stuck out to me that when the Search Repository activity runs it creates a message in the Message tab that tells me how many entries were found. I was curious why it does, and the Custom Query activity does not?

It does generate them. Though, it might depend on your custom SQL query and you'd have to click Test once you've configured it.

It doesn't put it in the Messages tab of the instance in Workflow automatically though like it does for the Search Repository activity.

D'oh! I misread your post. Good point, we'll see about tracking a message for tthe data activities too.
