Question

Question

Data captured via Barcode (QR) scan is not saving when saving a draft

asked on December 3, 2024

Laserfiche Forms 11. Running on Laserfiche Mobile on an Android Tablet, but the same thing for IOS.

I created a Sign-In sheet for class attendance. We need to record their Sign in & Out. So my thought was that they could scan their Member ID (QR Code - plain text - 8 characters long) to Sign in and use a Signature to Sign out at the end of the day. Thus, we'll need to do a "roll call" in the morning, Save a draft, and then Signature out later.

The issue I am running into is that the app will correctly scan the QR code and put the numbers into the Member ID field just fine, but when I "Save as Draft" and attempt to reopen the form later, none of the Member IDs are there. If I manually type in the 8-character Member ID and then hit "Save as Draft" they are all there.

Also, let's just say I fill out the form entirely in one setting and hit "Submit", the Member IDs are there regardless of input (Manual or QR scan).

Is this just a bug? Should I let someone know? Who should I let know? Anyone else using QR scans and Save as Draft?

Hi Kevin,

Did you use the modern form (the new form designer) when scanning code?

There was a bug (#388738) for accepting barcode scan on modern form but it was only partially fixed so now the scan button shows but the result could not be submitted.

The function works well on classic form.

Good Morning Rui,

Thank you so much for the reply. I wasn't able to successfully search for the answer. I appreciate it. This form is so convoluted with so many dynamic lookups through SQL and rules. I guess I should go back and try to redevelop it.

Have a tremendous rest of your week,
