Question

How to map a collection to a Word file?

asked on November 27

Hello everyone!

On the Cloud version of Laserfiche, I created a form with a collection.

When the form is submitted, my process calls a workflow and sends the fields of my form (including my collection) to the workflow.

In this workflow, I'm trying to link the values in my collection to a table, but I'm having trouble when, in the Word activity, I have to select the source data file.

I can't retrieve the values from my collection.

I need help with this.

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Your screenshot from the Workflow doesn't show the "Retrieve Business Process Variables" activity (sorry, not certain on the translated name of the activity).  You need that activity to pull in any values from the Forms instance to use as Tokens in the Workflow.

Hello Matthew and thank you for your feedback.

On the cloud, the “Retrieve Business Process Variables” activity no longer exists.

To retrieve the variables, it's different but I can guarantee you that I retrieve them well because the other simple fields are filled in.

Sorry - The differences in On Prem versus Cloud are sometimes small and insignificant, and sometimes very drastic.

Because of that, I could be way off the mark for what you see, but I what I see in On Prem is that when selecting which of the fields to retrieve from the form, there is an option to select the actual Table/Collection itself, instead of just the fields within the Table/Collection (the Type will say Table* or Collection* instead of Text or Date or whatever).  Once that is selected, I can go to the activity to populate the Word document, and select the Modification Type of "Table Field Merge" as opposed to "Simple Field Merge" and then I can just select that Table/Collection.

No idea if this information is helpful or not for Cloud - I hope it's helpful, and I wish you the best of luck!

Thank you Matthew for taking an interest in my problem; any help is welcome.
I've mastered the subject locally, but I must admit that the Cloud version is rather different.
