Question

Web Logins show Organization not found - must clear cache before every login

asked on November 21, 2024

We have our users in LFDS broken up into organizations due to license being paid for by different departments. As of 11/15/2024 (incidentally the same date that MS Edge updated) if a users is using Microsoft Edge to log into Forms or the Repository for a consecutive time after a clean start in Edge (clean cache) it will claim Organization not found for that user. The first time is always successful but no subsequent attempts are.

If the user then clears their BOTH "Cookies and other site data" AND "Cached images and files" they can subsequently login without issue.  Note, this is only an issue with Laserfiche users and NOT with the Windows Active Directory users. We have several users that may need to switch between both and it becomes a major annoyance having to clear cache between every login. It is also a major annoyance and time consuming issue for all of our external users that do not have a Windows Active Directory account in our network.

Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox do NOT have this issue although they were also updated since 11/15/2024. Unfort

Is anyone else experiencing this issue as of last week? If so, how did you solve it?

Hello,

I have a customer experiencing this, as well. Problem seems isolated to Edge, and as you said, clearing cache seems to resolve it.

I have a case open with Laserfiche, and they found that Edge auto-filling the username and password is likely the culprit. The "Organization" field is hidden, and Edge is incorrectly filling it with the username, which causes the error. Do you have Edge autofilling anything on that login page?

Thank you for confirming. I am trying to find a workaround for our hundreds of users.... But it is a definite issue as it is taking our users so much more time to keep having to clear cache every time. Unfortunately we tried to remove the user and password from the "microsoft wallet" and to not save it, and set the "forms not to autopopulate" and that is NOT fixing the issue. Only clearing cache and files is working at this time.

Within the WebSTS config page, there should be an option to display the Organization dropdown. You could try enabling that, and then seeing what, if anything, Edge is doing with that value. Although my WebSTS config page is has that option checked, yet the dropdown does not appear on the login screen, so I'm not sure how to get that dropdown to display now that I look at it.

Our login page already displays the organization field though.

And it doesn't display an incorrect value? It looks correct to you?

EDIT: With a HAR trace, I can see that Edge is trying to fill the "Organization" field with the saved value for the username. Since telling Edge not to save passwords or personal info, and clearing the saved passwords, I can't reproduce the issue. Which isn't helpful, I know, since you said you already did that and you're still having the issue. I'm not sure - might want to have your VAR open a support case with Laserfiche.

It populates the org field with the default ROOT every time, that is how we have it set up. The user must choose the correct org when they sign in.

This is still ongoing and impacting close to 150 users that are not employed by our organization but they are fully licensed Laserfiche users in our LFDS server (not AD users).

We use organizations in LFDS to keep our licenses organized by the department that purchased them and even if we move users "temporarily" into the ROOT organization, this does not help the non AD users. It is becoming very frustrating for them to work like this. AD users are not affected no matter what LFDS organization they are in. I am going to request that our VAR open an urgent ticket with Laserfiche because it is escalating.

Does providing a picture help anyone make sense of this? Again, all browsers work fine except Edge and Edge only does not work for actual Laserfiche (non AD) users.

We are still dealing with this issue. We have an ongoing support issue through our VAR with Laserfiche. They have come up with many solutions to try which so far have resulted in no fix. We have changed the default Organization to the one that most users use so that the impact is to a smaller group of users. so short of giving up on Organizations completely there is currently not a fix.
