I use the department-specific Reply To under the advanced options on the Email Activity on certain workflows depending on the audience. But I was recently asked for what I think would be a feature upgrade and that is the ability to set the Reply To value based on a variable.
Here is the scenario specifically for our internal work request system that is based using forms. When an end user that could be a teacher or student submitting the request gets notified that a request is picked up by one of our field technicians to work on, and they reply to that notification it currently goes to a department-level email, but we would like to have that dynamically set (without building a conditional tree for 18 departmental staff with each one having an email activity that would need to be maintained) to the staff member assigned to the request. This could be done in one email activity task if the reply to address could be a variable or token.
Any other work around that any one else might use in this circumstance? I have multiple workflows that would benefit from this if it is implemented.
