Question

How do I correctly mask sensitive information?

asked on October 31, 2024

Hello,

I've tried looking for it myself but I can't find it. I did understand that you could hide elements on a Laserfiche file concerning confidential data.

But I don't understand ; the user just has to switch to native display mode to get them. I think I must have missed the course on this.

Could someone please point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance.

If you need to keep the native PDF file for compliance reasons but still redact the image, you can create two separate documents. One with just the PDF edoc, the other with just the redacted image pages. You can use a use Workflow with the Move Pages activity to automate this.

Apply different security to the two documents as needed.

Your document has both a pdf component and an image page component. The sensitive information has been redacted from the image components but the pdf remains untouched. PDFs don't support securable redactions the way Laserfiche image pages do, so you will need to either remove that data from the pdf or remove the pdf altogether.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for your return.

So it's not possible to “hide” the pdf without deleting the file? I need to keep the native file for the relevant authorities.

No, the edoc and the pages are both covered by the same "View Contents" permission. It's not possible to give a user access to one but not the other.
