Question

Used drive space after migration

asked on October 28

I understand that it is normal for drive space to remain used on an old drive after a migration as the space is not freed up until the nightly maintenance windows.

I migrated a drive about 2 weeks ago and I would see the space gradually free up but stopped about a week ago. About 10% of the old drive remains in use.

I browsed the folders in the old drive E:\Laserfiche Repository\TAMIU\Volume
and most folders are empty but some still have files.

On the repository, I have confirmed that I did not miss any files from the old volume during the migration. I used a custom search.

What else can I do to wipe all traces of the old files? I would like to eventually delete the drive.

Thank you

so there is a response to this one. i reached out to Fernando and discussed his questions.

i recommended moving the Laserfiche repo directories over to the new storage location, esp. since all three folders in the remaining E:\Laserfiche Repositories folder are Laserfiche repository root folders. then i explained to Fernando how to do that and i'll mention it here so that Fernando has something to reference.

  1. collect all the relevant info about the repo, such as, (a), the name of the Laserfiche repo (e.g., REPONAME), (b), the new path to the Laserfiche repository in Windows, (c), the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) for the Laserfiche Server, (d), the FQDN for the SQL Server, (e), the name of the SQL database that corresponds to the Laserfiche repository, (f), the SQL Server username and password that is used by Laserfiche.
  2. unregister the repository in the Admin Console.
  3. copy the repository folder (e.g., E:\Laserfiche Repositories\REPONAME) to the new location.
  4. register the repository in the Admin Console and follow the prompts and put in the information that you collected in step 1.
  5. test out the repository to make sure that it is still accessible as before.
  6. get a backup of the folders in the new location before deleting the folders in the old location.
