Feature Request: Enhanced Metadata Report Functionality

posted two days ago

Metadata reports can be incredibly useful, but there are a few features that could, in my opinion, greatly improve their ease of use.

Firstly, the option to name a report file before export would be amazing, mostly to avoid the clutter of endless "My Report (#)" files in the downloads folder, but also to differentiate between multiple reports that might be run around the same time without needing to open each one. We're given the option to rename workflows, business processes, lookup tables, etc., why not reports?

Secondly, the ability to save certain report criteria as a favourite would be a huge time saver, in the same way that you're able to save column settings.

Lastly, the ability to schedule a metadata report to run automatically and then email the resulting file would be huge. I have a workaround for this running through a workflow currently, however it creates a PDF file and not an Excel, so it is not nearly as easily manipulated after the fact.

Are there any other features you would like to see added?

I have the same needs and would also love these enhancements! I have asked about your last request in the past.

I'd like to see it include a link to the document. Like Kevin, I typically use Workflow to handle this, but would be very useful to be able to include the link in the standard report that users can run.

I create reports in Workflow by manipulating the data into CSV format within a multi-value string variable, creating an entry with the string variable as the text, then attaching that entry to an email. It emails as a TXT file, but, when renamed to CSV, works exactly as a CSV would. Not ideal (I wish we could define the extension of the generated entry), but it does work without the pain of a PDF.
