Question

Unable to click hyper links in PDF file that is shared on public portal

asked on October 24, 2024

We have a pdf document in the public portal.  If I open the document in laserfiche, the links work perfectly; however, when viewing the PDF in the public portal, none of the hyperlinks work.

Is there a setting somewhere that will allow this?

Thanks in advance.

Are you running version 10? This issue was addressed for version 11.

We are in laserfiche cloud. Whatever version that is.

Hi Chris,

Your Laserfiche Solution Provider opened a support case for this and an explanation was provided there. I'll relay the information here as well.

The document in question is a PDF that also contains generated image pages. From the repository Web Client, the document viewer contains a toggle in the upper left that let's you choose to view the PDF natively or its generated image pages. When you view the PDF natively, then you can click on hyperlinks that are found on it.

In Public Portal, that toggle doesn't exist and the default behavior is to display the generated image pages. In this scenario, there aren't any clickable hyperlinks. However, you can go into "Repository Administration" and set a trustee attribute for "PublicPortalUser"

[SETTINGS]PreferEdocOnPDFDownload

with the value "True" and now whenever a user is using Public Portal and clicks on a PDF, it will open in the document viewer and it will display the native electronic document by default, instead of the image pages. Then users can click on the hyperlinks that are in the PDF.
