Why install Workflow Subscriber on a different server?

Doing some light reading tonight of the Workflow help files and was curious in what scenarios would you want to install the Workflow Subscriber on a different server than the Workflow Server?

A great question. I'm not personally aware of any deployments where they've been split up. I'm curious if anyone is.

I suppose back in the day when servers were physical and CPUs topped out at single digit core counts, there may have been some extremely high load edge cases where you might need/want to give each dedicated resources for performance reasons.

I think it's great that the software is flexible enough to split out the different components if needed, but as you said, I've not heard of a deployment that has done this. If anyone has done this or knows of a situation where it was done, please share your story.
