Question

Quickfields splitting documents incorrectly

asked on October 15, 2024

We have a quickfields session that is used to split documents, it fails to split documents at some coverpages due to the OCR not picking up the text that passes the first page identification conditions.

We have attempted to add conditions, create multiple classifications for the same documents, and adjust the OCR zones/settings (character preference, accuracy, etc.) and are still seeing this issue.

Does anyone have experience with adding a last page/blank last page to assist with splitting documents?

Our document management dept recently suggested to add a blank page at the end of each batch (where the docs are supposed to split/last page), however, I suspect a last-page coversheet of some sort may work better.

Thank you,

If you have control over the coversheets, I would use a barcode instead as the results will be much more reliable. Adding a barcode to a document is easy enough - just download a font such as Code3of9, type the text surrounded by asterisks and then change the font to the barcode font, i.e.

*NEWDOC*

Just be careful it doesn't convert a carriage return/line feed at the end - the Code3of9 barcode should start with two thin lines followed by two thick lines and end with two thick lines followed by a thin line.
