How to use email token from Update Word activity

asked on October 9, 2024

Hello!

I have a formatted word document that I want to use as the body of an email.  I would rather not configure the HTML manually in the email activity itself.  Looking at other posts, it seems I should be able to add the Word document as a workflow attachment, assign it to the Update Word Document activity, then emit a token (in advanced settings of the Word activity) to use the contents of the Word doc.  When I try this, I only get a single line (below).  What am I doing wrong?  Or does anyone have a better idea to maintain the formatting in the email.

Your responses are much appreciated!

You'll want to have only the email token in the email body. If you have other text in the email body (like something else you've typed or other tokens), you'll get that reference to the .txt file instead of the formatting you're expecting. I'd recommend adding any additional static text for the email into the Word document itself.

Yes!  Thank you, Nicole.  There was a return in the email body I was unaware of.
