Question

Is it possible to change the text of "Read Only"?

asked on October 8, 2024

Hi everyone,

A customer has asked if it's possible to chnage the text and background here.

I presume it's an easy "yes" (if you know what you're doing) I couldn't find a language file and will need to edit the ASP and CSS directly.

Please advise.

Why?

This sort of change is of course possible by editing the page files/css to various extents. But those changes are going to be brittle (wiped out during most version upgrades) and really not worth messing around with unless there is a seriously compelling business case as to why the existing product UI doesn't suffice.

Hi Sam,

Yep, agreed! I told that to the customer. I added that should they raise a support case for Web Client, they will likely be required to walk back those changes, especially if the support case has anything to do with document retrieval and display. However, my technical liason to the BA team assures me they have a compelling reason.

I am immensely curious as to what said "compelling reason" is, along with the desire alternative text for a very, very standard term.
