Question

Can a document or folder have more than one security tag on it

asked on October 1, 2024

Hello,

Can a document or folder inside the LF repository have more than one security tag applied to it?

Say a user was in the everyone group and the document they wanted to access had another security tag applied to it that the user was not assigned rights to.

Would the everyone group overwrite that security tag or would the security tag prevent that user from accessing the document?

Yes, an entry can have more than 1 security tag assigned to it. In order to see the document, a user would need all the same security tags assigned to their account in order to see said document.

So even if they are in the everyone group, that one additional tag they do not have access to would not allow them the access the document.

Correct. Either the user would need that tag explicitly assigned to their account, or the everyone group would need the additional tag added to it (or it inherits it from some other group membership).
