User lookup rule on dropdown field in modern form

asked on September 13, 2024

I am using a dropdown field on a modern form design in laserfiche forms for the first time since the 11.5 upgrade. The name of the field is "Employee Name". When I go to the Lookup rules section, I cannot choose "Employee Name" for my "When" clause. Attaching a screenshot. The only way I seem to be able to get this to work is to use a Single Line field, this was presenting the list of names as the individual typed out their name, but unless they selected their name, the form would progress with whatever text was there. See screenshot. I am able to do this in the Classic Designer. I also deleted all of the default values that are on the basic tab where it gives you 3 Choice 1, 2, and 3 in case that was causing a problem.

You have Employee Name listed as your fill.  If you are filling that field with the lookup, your WHEN needs to come from a different variable.  If you just want a list to populate for someone to select, you don't need the WHEN statement unless there is a different parameter narrowing down what returns.

@Angela Murray This got me pondering and as I was typing another question to your response, I realized what I needed to remove was the WHEN all together! It works perfect now! Thank you!!!
