"Invalid JSON primitive" error in Forms

asked on August 23, 2024 Show version history

I'm seeing the following error in the LF server's event log (Forms -> App -> Admin).  Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Thanks.

Hi Mike,

From the error log, it should be something wrong when you try to open a user task. We've seen similar issues reported before, usually it happens after you overwrite an existing process, and some unique elements become duplicated unexpectedly, like the form's unique id. May I know what is your Forms version?  I think we've fixed all the known issues of such error in latest Forms release;11 Update 5. If you are on an older version, could you upgrade your Forms then test? If that does not help, please contact our support team with the process you are using for further check.

Then I'd recommend open a support ticket and provide us your bp to test.

We had the same issue where EDGE updated to version 128 and halted all of our Forms processes that had external steps; like Save to Repository, Email notifications to outside users or email distribution groups.

We reverted back to EDGE version 127 and this corrected the issue. My server support created a GPO to not allow for EDGE updates, but at some point we must update due to windows security audits.

It would be great if Laserfiche could create a hotfix for EDGE updating and halting the system processes.

We opened a CASE with Laserfiche on this issue (#240645). So far, the revert to 127 has temporarily fixed it for now.

Hi Robin,

Thanks for sharing this, but seems like your issue is about STR steps, whereas the post's error comes from loading the user task page. Did you meet this same error with Edge 128 and fixed it after reverting back to 127? Kindly let me know, thanks.

After monitoring the issue for 2 1/2 days, it was only affecting the tasks that had to do something external.  Send an email with Form attachment, File Upload, or Save to Repository tasks. It was primarily related to anything that had use the PDF Generator function. I have attached a couple of error logs below

Hi Robin,

Then yes, your error is caused by V128 Edge, and we already have a hotfix for it, you can check PDF generation fails when using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge for PuppeteerExecutablePath in Forms 11 Update 2 or later - Knowledge Base (laserfiche.com)
