Recurring LFForms Audit Trail Error (LFF9906-AuditTrailTmeoutSendEventToATHub)

asked on August 22, 2024

I'm seeing a ton (multiple every minute) of errors in the Event logs for LFForms stating:

Sending audit events to Audit Trail Hub Service timed out with error code OnFlyEventTimeOut. [LFF9906-AuditTrailTmeoutSendEventToATHub]

Full message example:

Sending audit events to Audit Trail Hub Service timed out with error code OnFlyEventTimeOut. [LFF9906-AuditTrailTmeoutSendEventToATHub]

Details:
URL:
Error: AuditTrailTmeoutSendEventToATHub
Date: 8/22/2024 11:36:24 AM (Mountain Standard Time)
HTTP Status Code: 500
Business Process ID: 0

Stack Trace:
Caught exception: Laserfiche.Forms.CommonUtils.Exceptions.LFFormsException
Message: Sending audit events to Audit Trail Hub Service timed out with error code OnFlyEventTimeOut. [LFF9906-AuditTrailTmeoutSendEventToATHub]

Anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve these errors?

Hi, Matthew,

The OnFlyEventTimeOut error indicates some connection issue between Forms and Audit Trail. If Forms continue to generate this error, you can try resetting the connection on Forms Configuration Site. To do so, re-enter Audit Trail server address on Forms Configuration Site, tab "Auditing". Then click "Save".

You can also check if recent audit events of the Forms instance (identified by the Forms Database ID) are available on Audit Trail. To view audit events on Audit Trail Reporting Site, audit search catalog of appropriate date range must be created on Audit Trail Configuration Site.

Okay, this has been helpful information and I made some progress, but still struggling a bit.

Searching the records in Audit Trail, I found that nothing showed after 7/31/2024, but lots showed before that.

Changing the setting on the Forms Configuration didn't seem to make any differences at first, but I restarted the Audit Trail Services and tried editing the Forms Configuration again, and then suddenly it seemed to work.  All of the records from 8/1/2024 until now were suddenly searchable in Audit Trail.

I'm not seeing any more errors happening in the Event Viewer - but I'm also not seeing newer records show up in Audit Trail beyond what flooded in 20 minutes ago.  I've tweaked settings again trying to get it to refresh again, and nothing so far is working.

I suspect this might have started following some changes our team made to Domain Controllers, but I'm not quite certain.

I'm going to continue trying to get it to show anything newer than 20 minutes ago.

I got it to load the records again one time, loading hundreds of additional records, but now it seems to be stuck again, with nothing showing within the last 15 minutes.

I'm not certain what actually triggered the two big refreshes to load the missing data, and I haven't been able to consistently trigger the behavior on demand.

I'm not seeing the errors anymore - but not seeing the newest records in the Audit Trail search is the issue I see now.

Alright - without me actively messing with it for the last hour - I've seen the new records show up in Audit Trail in a couple different batches.  So it doesn't appear to be real-time, but rather loads them on a recurring basis.  I can't figure out the schedule (8:45, 9:10, 9:45, 9:55, 10:25) - but it does appear to be working without me needing to tweak or reset anything - and I haven't seen any new errors in the Event logs.

So I think I'm good now.

You are right, there is noticeable delay between the audit event occurrence and the event being available on Audit Trail Reporting Site.
