Question on upgrade

asked on August 20, 2024

Greetings- we are currentlya financial firm setup with both LF and Exchange on-prem. My question is can we still migrate our mailboxes to the cloud and as long as our folks still are using the same desktkop version of outlook for LF then we are fine with not having to quickly move LF to the cloud at the same time?

Greetings! Yes, you can migrate your mailboxes to the cloud (e.g., to Microsoft 365) while keeping your Laserfiche (LF) system on-premises. The key consideration is ensuring that your users continue to use the same desktop version of Outlook that integrates with Laserfiche.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Outlook Integration: As long as your users are still using the same desktop version of Outlook that is integrated with Laserfiche, they should be able to continue using the Laserfiche functionalities (e.g., archiving emails, accessing documents) as they did before the mailbox migration.
  2. No Immediate LF Migration Needed: Moving your mailboxes to the cloud doesn’t necessitate an immediate migration of Laserfiche to the cloud. The integration between Laserfiche and the desktop version of Outlook should remain intact, provided that the Outlook plugin for Laserfiche is properly configured and compatible with the versions you are using.
  3. Considerations for the Future: While you can continue with this setup, it’s a good idea to plan for future Laserfiche upgrades or a potential cloud migration to ensure long-term compatibility and to take advantage of newer features and better integration with cloud services.

In summary, you can migrate your mailboxes to the cloud without having to move Laserfiche to the cloud at the same time, as long as the desktop version of Outlook remains compatible and continues to work with your on-premises Laserfiche system.
