In an on-prem system, you can run searches in the Workflow Designer based on document entry IDs. So for example, you have a process in your repository in which Workflow takes action on a document and does something with it - moves it to a different folder, sends emails, whatever. You can take that document's entry ID and search for it in Workflow to find workflows that acted on that particular entry. Screenshot of the search in the Workflow Designer below:

That's how I usually start when I need to figure out what's happening to a document. And this only works in on-prem environments - I don't believe Cloud workflow offers the ability to search based on entry IDs yet.
