Question

Laserfiche AI Document Summarization Questions

asked on August 13, 2024

Hi - looking for more information on the Laserfiche AI Document Summarization - I've read the Laserfiche product announcement, documentation, and privacy policy.  We have it currently disabled due to our pending AI policy.  It's reassuring to read that Laserfiche AI was built with privacy and security top of mind, and that our data is not used for training of any AI models, however there is concern about highly confidential information.  Can you confirm that:

- Confidential information is kept confidential within the document itself, and is not displayed or used anywhere else in LF Cloud?  The fear is that it will accidentally generate or display similar information from a confidential document in the summarization of a non-confidential document.

- Information that is summarized by AI in LF Cloud is kept only within our designated LF Cloud, and is not used elsewhere?

- Is there a way to turn off AI summarization on confidential folders, but leave it on for everything else?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jen,

Have you seen the FAQ specifically speaking to privacy and how the data is used, including leaving the system and in training data, that may speak to some of your questions: https://info.laserfiche.com/pdf/faq-laserfiche-document-summarization?_gl=1*yf9f3a*_gcl_au*MTA5Nzc4NTM1Ny4xNzIwNTcyMzM3

To your specific question, all generated data from a document is kept associated with that document, and follows the same security assigned to the source document. For example, if a user doesn't have access to view the content of a document, they won't have access to view the generated summary either.

Disabling summarization is a repository-wide option, although the ability to generate the summary on any given item in the repository is also tied to the entry access rights on that entry.
